The mirrorwork is not a surface.
It is small plaques of glass set one at a time into painted plaster, and the plaster is as much of the work as the glass — turquoise, blue and ochre, with panels of figures near the ceiling and a cusped arch over the far door picked out in colour.
The windows are small and set high in the wall on both sides, so by day the light lands on the floor in squares and by night there is only what you bring in with you.
