A slatted timber screen is pulled across the head of the opening, and the piers either side of it are washed the same ochre as the fort.

The floor is black-and-white chequered marble, polished hard enough to hold the reflection of the whole opening in it.

There is nothing behind you to look at. The chairs face out because there is no sensible way to put them any other way, and once you are in one the afternoon tends to go.
