The patisserie is a Raffles fixture, and this is the bistro version of it: a room you sit down in rather than a counter you pass.
The floor is laid in herringbone and nothing about the place is in a hurry.
It is the one room on the island where turning up is the whole plan. No table to hold, no hour to be there by.
What comes out of the kitchen is not only eaten here. The bakes go across to The Dining Room as well, so the pastry on the breakfast table started in this room.
