Named for the mermaid and built to look at the water. A turquoise mosaic column runs up into a ceiling of woven rattan discs meant to read as ocean reefs, the floor is black-and-white chequerboard, the walls carry rows of pearly white plates, and one whole side is glass onto Phang Nga Bay above the infinity pool. Breakfast is fruit, homemade cereals, continental breads and pancakes; lunch is simple wood-fired Italian, pizzas and seafood; dinner widens into pastas, salads, raw and cooked seafood and antipasti. It is the room you will use most, and it is the only one open in the morning. The house will also feed you almost anywhere else: it floats breakfast out onto your own pool, lights a barbecue on your villa deck, lays a 5-course dinner on this terrace or under a pergola, and runs a wine tasting against the pastry chef's chocolates. The COMO Shambhala Kitchen menu — the group's own nutrition-first cooking — runs in every room and on room service rather than in a restaurant of its own.
