High tea is the reason to give this room an afternoon rather than pass through it.
It comes on tiered stands — finger sandwiches, plain and fruit scones with clotted cream, lemon curd and homemade jam, pastries — with a long list of teas beside it, at about AED 380 for two.
From 5 until 10 the room turns to aperitivo. Aperol spritz, negroni, bellini and Italian wine by the glass, with boards of burrata and tomato confit, cured meats, arancini and truffle parmesan fries to go with them. A 3-course set lunch runs through the middle of the day, and a night-owl menu runs from 10.30 to 12.30.
There is a terrace off it, laid with cane armchairs at glass-topped tables between the columns, with the pool below. Shisha is served out there from 1 in the afternoon until 1 in the morning, and nobody under 21 is allowed in that part of it.
