Amalfi sits on the edge of the West lagoon pool, its tables under canvas canopies with a run of cabanas behind them.
It is the one pool venue here that takes children of any age, which is usually what decides where a family eats.
The cooking is the rustic end of the Mediterranean: salads, fish and meat off the fire, and pizza out of the wood oven. The pizza is the thing to order.
There is a minimum spend to sit down — about AED 200 a head for anyone 12 and over, and about AED 100 for a child of 4 to 12 — and it comes off the bill rather than being charged on top of it.
