The room stands between a garden and the ocean, and the glass on both sides runs the full height of it.
Look one way and there is lawn, planting and the long pool; look the other and there is water.
The wall inside is hung with overlapping boards of timber and woven matting, in bands of grey, bone and charcoal, a few of them carved with medallions. It runs the height of the room, and the light crossing it changes through the day.
Tables are stone-topped and laid with green runners; the chairs are white, low, with a sage cushion in each. Nothing about it asks you to sit up straight.
