Hôtel de Crillon stands at number 10 on Place de la Concorde, behind a Neoclassical façade that has watched the square through its defining moments. It began as a royal palace, from the vision of Louis XV, and for centuries it opened its gates to monarchs, artists and the people who set the tone of Paris. The courtyards behind it are tucked away from the city. One suite here was the Crillon family's private chapel, and the woodwork it lost is at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
At dusk a Grand Premier Room looks down on Rue Boissy d'Anglas, which is pedestrian and quiet, or on one of the inner courtyards, and the last of the light crosses the stone opposite. On the seventh floor, under the mansard roof, Ateliers d'Artistes - Le Poète has a terrace and a balcony, and the Eiffel Tower is in both.
A personal butler is on call around the clock, and the Clefs d'Or concierges arrange the rest. Djordje Varda dresses the public rooms with flowers. The boutique sells bedding and accessories made for the hotel. Valet parking, private transfers and rooms with disabled access come through the same desk.
One table, once an evening

A terrace on the second floor seats 4 to 6 people, and only that many, and only once in the evening, Thursday to Saturday. It is the single table the kitchen cooks for that night.
Sense, A Rosewood Spa. The treatment list runs from an hour's massage with the relaxation rooms after it to a 90-minute facial by EviDens de Beauté using Jet Peel, an oxygen technology. About EUR 500 for the facial. Open 9 in the morning to 9 at night, daily.
The Butlers. A butler is assigned to your room for the stay, at any hour. In the signature suites they also do 5 items of laundry for you, and arrival and departure times bend to the flight.
The Art Collection. A rotating gallery of emerging artists hangs in the lobby and at Le Boudoir, changed exhibition by exhibition. Elsewhere in the public rooms the walls carry sculpture, painting and photography by names that are already established.
Le Petit Crillon. Benny, the hotel's elephant, is waiting in the room when children arrive, and a costume closet comes with him: princess dresses, knight outfits. Bibs, sleep sacks, bath ponchos, crib bumpers and a tipi come up if you need them. At Jardin d'Hiver, Nonos, Butterfly Pâtisserie and in the room, children get their own tableware and a menu of a main, a dessert and a drink, and the concierges run food workshops and museum trips for them.
Crillon & Co. Dogs arrive to a sofa of their own, toys, and a pouch from Nocat Studio embroidered with their name, holding a towel, shampoo, a face mask and perfume. There are treats waiting in the room and a card to order from, with ice cream by Delamour. The concierges keep a list of the walks, shops and tables in Paris that will have them.
Getting Around. Bus lines 24, 42, 52, 72, 73, 84 and 94 stop along Place de la Concorde, 20 to 100 metres from the door, and the Concorde metro station on line 1 is a 20-metre walk. Gare Saint-Lazare is 15 to 20 minutes by car, Charles de Gaulle 45 to 60, Orly 30 to 45. A courtesy car and private transfers come through the concierge.
