In summer the garden becomes the dining room.
Tables go out under trees a century old, with the lake showing through them. Indoors there are small warm rooms instead.
The bar staff run a cocktail class here, and you make the drinks yourself. The drink at the centre of it is a gin made for Villa d'Este, distilled nearby from botanicals gathered around the lake. Each cocktail comes with something from the kitchen to eat beside it.
