The hotel covers 30 hectares of a pine-clad peninsula in Vouliagmeni, 30 minutes by road from both the centre of Athens and the airport. The Bungalows came first, in 1961; Arion and Nafsika were built after them. Arion is the quieter side, modernist in line with a retro finish. Nafsika is the livelier one. The Bungalows keep nods to the 1960s design of the original Astir Palace, with modern rooms inside.
Every room in Nafsika faces the sea. In Arion the choice is between the sea and the pine grove, and in the Bungalows between the sea and the garden. The Bungalows line the beach, where the Astir Palace began in 1961, and some have a private infinity pool on the terrace. The larger suites add a plunge pool on a terrace or a rooftop garden; on Nafsika's top floor, the Ambassador Suite's pool faces the sunset over the Aegean. Arion Riviera Suite, the largest at 450 square metres, has its own gym, steam room and sauna.
Rooms are made up twice a day, and shoes left out at night come back polished. The concierge arranges private boat trips along the Riviera and out to the Saronic islands, family visits to the ancient sites nearby, and cabanas on the beach. Parking is by valet.

The Private Beaches. The estate runs down to 3 private beaches on the Aegean, with 2-person cabanas along the sand and sunbeds on the piers.
The Outdoor Pools, March to October. A free-form family pool and an infinity pool run outdoors from March to October.
The Spa, and Its Indoor Pool. The Spa has 10 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy zone and a heated indoor pool, and is open all year, from 9 in the morning to 9 at night. The pool has family hours until 2 in the afternoon for children aged 7 to 15, then it is adults only. Treatments start at 16; children aged 7 to 15 can share a family treatment with an adult until 3 in the afternoon.
Kids For All Seasons. Children aged 4 to 12 join free, supervised daily activities: crafts, games and cultural outings. Babysitting can be arranged with advance notice, at a charge.
Fitness, and Petros Hair Salon. The fitness centre is open around the clock, staffed from 7 in the morning to 10 at night. Petros Hair Salon is open Monday to Saturday from 10 in the morning to 7 in the evening, and Sunday from 11.
Arriving, and the Practical Notes. Athens' airport and city centre are both about 30 minutes away by road. Valet parking is available.
