Baoshuan means Chinese treasure ships.
Those were the vessels that carried the best of what China had to India, and beyond it, for centuries.
The menu travels in time as much as across the map. It runs from the Buddhist temple kitchens of the Tang dynasty and the lantern-lit tea houses of Suzhou under the Ming, to Shanghai in the jazz age and Hong Kong at cocktail hour now.
Children under 13 are not seated after 9 at night, so a family table here is an early one.
