Presidential Suite, Rambagh

The suite is named after the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur and borrows from it directly: arched stonework, crystal chandeliers and gold-leaf frescoes, on the top floor of a Delhi hotel. Nothing else in the building looks like it.

It runs to 165 square metres: a sitting room, a dining room, a 4-fixture bathroom, a walk-in wardrobe, and a study somebody could work in for a week. It sleeps 6, and rather more can be entertained — which is usually what it is taken for. The view down India Gate and the Lutyens treeline is why the entertaining happens up here rather than in a banqueting room.
