The estate is 200 years old, laid out in pleasure gardens and courtyards around a stepwell that has run with water since long before the hotel existed. 155 rooms and suites are spread across the grounds, close enough to the City Palace and Lake Pichola to reach easily, and secluded enough that the city feels far away.
Every room's view says which wing of the estate it sits in. Superior Room looks onto the inner courtyard through a jharokha seat, Deluxe Room onto the Aravalli hills, and Luxury Room With Museum View onto the heritage museum and Durbar Chowk, also through a jharokha. Grand Luxury Room adds a private sit-out onto the front lawns and the hills. Every grade below the suites comes in king or twin, at the same size within its pair. At the top of the ladder the Grand Presidential Suite spreads over 299 square metres and 2 bedrooms, one king and one twin, each with its own balcony and its own bathroom with a jacuzzi.
The concierge arranges tours, transfers and evening cultural performances on the estate. In-room dining runs around the clock, and a doctor is on call at any hour. A travel desk and chauffeur-driven cars cover the rest of Udaipur, with currency exchange, laundry and parking on site.

Pratap Hall and the Wedding Lawns. Pratap Hall is the largest of the banquet halls, built for 400 guests under chandeliers and arches, with partitions for smaller parties. Outdoors, Raj Van is the biggest of the lawns, holding up to 1,200 for a wedding or a festival.
The Stepwell at Saheliyon ki Baori. A stepwell anchors the grounds, still holding water after 2 centuries. A tiered garden is built around it, called Saheliyon ki Baori, seating up to 120 for a smaller celebration.
