Shiv Niwas Palace is the City Palace's own guest wing, built in the early 20th century under Maharana Fateh Singh and once kept for the dignitaries and guests of the House of Mewar. Maharana Pratap Airport is 28 kilometres away, and the city's own railway station is 2 kilometres away in the other direction. The building is crescent-shaped, set into the same sloping ground that carries the whole City Palace complex down to Lake Pichola, with Taj Fateh Prakash Palace standing in the same complex close by. Inside are 36 rooms and suites in all — 19 Palace Rooms and 17 suites split across 4 further grades — each individually decorated, many of them furnished with pieces and portraits that have stayed in the Mewar family for generations.
Every room and suite here is decorated on its own — no two share quite the same furniture or the same portraits on the wall. Palace Room looks into the City Palace complex rather than onto the water. Terrace Suite, Royal Suite and Imperial Suite are each offered facing the lake and facing away from it, so the view is a choice at these 3 grades rather than a fixed fact of the room. Presidential Suite, the single largest room in the palace, faces Lake Pichola outright. At dusk, whichever way a room faces, the same wide sweep of hills and water closes over Udaipur on this shore of Pichola.
In-room dining runs around the clock, and a doctor is on call at any hour. A travel desk arranges currency exchange and the rest of the city; laundry, dry-cleaning and one-hour pressing are handled on site, and housekeeping comes through twice a day. On request there is a billiards room, business services with audio-visual equipment and a confidential meeting suite, and the Maharana Mewar Special Library, kept for guests who ask for it.

Panera is the bar beside the Pool Deck, and its name comes from paani, the word for water, and once meant the royal household's own store of water and liquor. It pours a wide range of drinks and snacks through the day and into the evening.
Panghat, the Spa and Salon. Panghat keeps 3 treatment rooms — one each for Ayurvedic, aroma and Swedish massage — and a salon equipped for bridal makeovers, run in partnership with the spa group Zivaya. Order from the Pool Deck's food menu during a treatment, and it will be brought to you there.
Boats on Lake Pichola. Solar and motor boats put out from the palace's own steps onto Lake Pichola.
The Maharana Mewar Special Library. A library named for Maharana Mewar sits within the palace, open to guests who ask for it.
Billiards, Squash and a Steam Room. The palace keeps a billiards room, a squash court and a steam room among its recreation facilities, alongside the outdoor pool and a fitness area.

Palace Room only faces away from the lake, and Presidential Suite, the single room at the top of the ladder, only faces it.
The palace holds 36 rooms and suites in total: 19 Palace Rooms and 17 suites split across the 4 grades above it. Every one is decorated individually, and many carry furniture and portraits that have stayed in the Mewar family for generations. No square-metre figure is published for any of them.
