A cusped timber door standing wide on a walled courtyard, a table for two set out in the sun beyond it and the bed just inside the shade.

At 45 square metres this is a generous entry room, and an unusual one in a house this small. Nobody here had to cut a big room into two small ones: the building was somebody's residence, and these are the rooms it had.

Tall windows onto the gardens, a writing desk in front of one of them, and the particular quiet that comes of having Rambagh's 47 acres on the other side of the wall, absorbing everything the city is doing.
