Premier riad

The first thing you hear is water, from fountains running over roses. The patio is full of daylight and plants. The ground floor is made for company, with living rooms, a dining room and a bar around the patio, and silk cushions in the Moroccan sitting room. The plaster and the woodwork are carved to match.

Upstairs, the bedroom has silk sheets, and the dressing room is hidden behind carved mashrabiya screens. The roof terrace takes the full Marrakech sun, with a plunge pool to cool off in and a shaded tent over the rooftops of the Ochre City. Dinner for two can be served up there by candlelight.
