The step from a room to a suite happens all at once here, not in stages. The lounge is a proper room — a long pale sofa and two armchairs round a low table on a patterned rug, a carved screen behind them — and off it is a dining nook with its own table and a bar, which is the detail that changes how the space is used. It stops being somewhere to sleep between meals and becomes somewhere you can have people in.

The bedroom is through from it, the bed under a tall carved headboard with reading lamps either side and a bench at the foot. The bathroom moves up in the same step: a freestanding bath under a carved arch, a glazed shower alongside, twin basins and lanterns set into the wall. Outside, 14 square metres of terrace under a shaded loggia with a daybed on it. It holds 4 guests, 3 of them adults, and the rate includes access at DRIFT.
