When Bar Berni reopens, come for the aperitivo: vermouth cocktails, wine and small plates, or a pot of tea.
The drink to order is the Gorgona, Carpano Antica Formula vermouth topped with a sparkling Gherardesca tea. Elba mixes vodka and a Mugello vermouth with green apple, chestnut honey and champagne, and Santorini puts mezcal with pink grapefruit, cucumber, mint and Greek yoghurt.
There is food all day: schiacciata with a cockle sauce, mozzarella in carrozza with anchovies, raw Tyrrhenian scampi and prawns, oysters, and a risotto of raw prawns over a marinara sauce.
