Royal Suite

Royal Suite reflects Claridge's long-standing connection with royalty and its role as host to moments of national celebration. Michelle Wu drew the interiors from the festivities held at the hotel in 1953 during the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II: a Buckingham Blue palette sets the tone, and the master bedroom takes its inspiration from the Queen's Coronation gown by Norman Hartnell.

Hand-embroidered dressing-room doors recreate the 4 national flowers of the United Kingdom — rose, thistle, daffodil, shamrock — with a single lucky clover worked in among them, the way Hartnell hid one in the gown. A bronze Baccarat chandelier from the 1880s and Gainsborough silk damask, woven on a 1920s loom, sit alongside a Gilbert and Sullivan grand piano and a dining room built for family celebrations.
