Palace Room, Garden View, Twin Bed

The Palace Rooms are the entry rooms and they are not small — 55 to 66 square metres, because these were rooms in a house rather than units on a floor plan. Panelled walls in pale green, a bed under a draped canopy, a small sofa and a pair of chairs by the window, and the decorative motifs painted back onto the plaster by hand during the restoration rather than printed on.

This is the twin of the two, and here the bed is its own room rather than a preference: the double has its own name and its own booking. The garden is the outlook from every one of them — lawns and old trees, the pool somewhere below, and peacocks that will let you know they are there. The one thing to know before booking is that the range is wide: 55 and 66 square metres are both Palace Rooms, and which you get depends on the building rather than the rate.
