A bed hung with gold silk gathered from a single crown, an orange armchair and a long bench at its foot, arched windows onto the garden at the far end.

The walls are worked with hand-painted borders, the bed is dressed in Sanganeri cotton, and the windows are tall and shuttered rather than glazed and sealed.

They give onto the gardens or the inner courtyard — the palace decides which — so the room is quiet at the hours when the gardens are not, and cooler in May if it is the courtyard side. The marble bathroom is good stone, with no announcement made about it. The room is 46 square metres on the first floor, which is generous for an entry room at a palace of this size.
