Garden Suite

A low bed on a dark plinth under a white plaster relief of two palm trees, a tall candle-shaped light either side of it, split-cane blinds at the windows and a wooden shutter standing open.

The reason to take one is outside rather than inside: a private sit-out under a canopy walled in split cane, with a timber daybed heaped with cushions, opening straight onto the palace's garden. Sun comes through the screens in bars across the floor for most of the afternoon. Neither the Palace Suite nor the Aravali Suite has one.

Inside, it is the fort's own vocabulary: marble work in green and white, a low bed on a plinth under a carved plaster relief — a lotus in some of them, a pair of palm trees in others — a lamp set into the wall on either side, and almost nothing else. It takes 2 guests in 1 bed, with a cot on request and nothing beyond that. There are 17 of these, which makes it the suite most likely to be free on a date you actually want.
