Premier Versace Room Creek View

This is the first grade in the hotel that faces the water, and the palette changes with it. The Creek side is done in turquoise and gold — the bedspread, the cushions, the silver-framed headboards, the pale blue armchairs in the window bay — against the same white panelling and the same black Greek key round the cornice. It runs 60 square metres, with a proper sitting corner rather than a chair, and a marble bathroom with hand-cut mosaic and a bath under a lit alcove.

It is made up two ways: a king, or two queen beds — not twins, which is what separates this grade from the Deluxes below it and is worth knowing if there are 3 of you. There are 58 of them, all on the upper floors, all with a balcony or terrace over the Creek. The 10 extra square metres are not the reason to take it. The reason is that at 6 in the evening the water outside goes from green to bronze and the far bank comes on, and you are high enough to see the whole of it.
