Breakfast laid on a Palmscape balcony table in the morning, the fountain running white in the lagoon directly below and the crescent of the Palm closing the horizon.

Identical in plan and finish to its sea-facing twin — panelled wall, gilded coral relief, blue watercolour carpet, a bathroom in white marble with twin basins, a stand-alone tub, a walk-in shower and a walk-in wardrobe. What changes is the window, and it changes everything about the room at night.

This side looks straight down into the fountain lagoon. Skyblaze runs after dark and this balcony is the seat for it — 28 metres of lit water going up out of a black lagoon, with the Marina towers standing across the bay behind. In the morning the same view is the island, the causeway and the city in haze. The Palm side prices above the sea side, and the fountain is the difference. Take this one if any part of the trip is meant to happen on the balcony after dark.
