The room

The twin-queen room on the other side of the tower, two beds under the same bronze panels with a writing desk drawn up to the glass, and beyond the balcony rail the Marina's towers across flat water.

The bath standing in its own recess beside the lit vanity and its honeycomb tiling, and through the opening both queen beds with the skyline in the balcony door behind them.

The Imperial Club lounge: three rings of cut glass hung one under another over cane armchairs at marble-topped tables, fluted screen walls in gold and cream down one side, and the club's own name lit on the panel at the far end.
